March Topic & Speaker

This month, we're featuring guest speaker, Teddy Martinez, VP, Strategic & Policy Initiatives, at San Diego Workforce Partnership. Teddy is going to share about a Needs & Assets Map developed in collaboration with the San Diego Policy & Innovation Center. The map is an interactive tool designed to help inform workforce development strategies, identify areas of need throughout the region, and align community assets and resources with those needs.

The map explores both the promise and the disparities that define San Diego’s workforce landscape. It identifies the needs—where unemployment, undereducation, health burdens and racial inequities persist. And it highlights the assets—the training centers, childcare providers, job hubs and educational institutions that can serve as building blocks for a more equitable future.

Together, these layers tell a story not just of challenge, but of opportunity: where targeted investments, intentional policies, and cross-sector partnerships can help bridge the gap between the San Diego that is thriving—and the San Diego that has yet to fully share in that success.
